Description:
The natural therapeutic treatment to relieve everyday stress, pain, fatigue, insomnia, and chronic pains. A thoughtful choice to experience acupuncture-like treatment while being in the comfort of home. Easy to handle as you can roll it out whenever treatment is needed and then stow it away once you finish
For centuries ancient yogis and gurus have been using beds of nails for healing and meditation. Acupressure is also known as acupuncture without needles. It involves the application of manual pressure on specific points. Within ancient Chinese therapeutic treatments, there is a belief in Qi the life energy that flows through fourteen channels to keep a human lively and vibrant. Acupressure is the art of stimulating the specific points to allow the free flow of this energy to keep an individual free of pain, sluggishness, and fatigue.
The proper treatment protects you from the harmful effects of everyday issues like headaches, stomach aches, back and neck pain, the formation of cellulite, indigestion, etc.
Some research attributes the therapeutic effects of acupressure mats to the release of endorphins while others indicate the influence of the autonomic nervous system.
The Acupressure mat and pillow are embedded with hard plastic disks containing protruding spikes simulating a bed of nails. The mats contain several hundred blunt plastic points which apply pressure to many acupressure points in the back. The acupressure pillow included with this offer can be used on the neck, head, hands, or feet. By stimulating pressure points along the meridians of the body –the mat and the pillow provide benefits similar to acupuncture treatment that is supposed to invigorate circulation inside the body.
Acupressure mat and pillow users have reported finding relief for the following conditions:

History:
In the mid19th century Russian Celebrity Ivan Turgenev in his novel, “Eve” described the application of a bed of needles during surgery to control a patient’s blood pressure and keep him relaxed.
Tanya Zilberter, Ph.D. the author of ‘Reflexo-Therapy From Kutzenov Applicator to Shakti Ma’ believed that acupuncture was the theory behind that procedure.
Zilberter’s research reveals that Kuznetsov, a Russian music teacher invented the first acupressure mat. Kutzentsove suffered from severely impaired peripheral circulation and muscle spasms to the extent he faced difficulty in moving his limbs. He found his cure in acupuncture, but the cost of the treatment was beyond what he could afford. In desperation, he tried to perform acupuncture on himself but failed because reaching all the pressure points on his back was not an easy feat.
His misery and desperation brought him to a novel idea. He prepared a sheet of tire rubber with embedded office pins each quarter of an inch apart and lied down on it adjusting his posture until he attained the right pressure points. He called his new invention ‘Iplikator’ and filed for a patent in 1979. Since this invention, thousands of clinics in Russia replicated the Iplikator’ and it was featured in the famous magazine ‘Invention and Rationalization in 1981. Later it was approved by the department of health in Russia.
Modern Day Acupressure Yoga Mat:
Later Sweden took the lead and invented the modern-day acupressure yoga mats. In August 2009 a Swedish manufacturer organized a mass meeting of 3000 users sitting or lying on acupressure yoga mats forming a sunbeam singing mantras in a park in Stockholm. The event resulted in an entry in the Guinness Book of Records and was also reported in The New York Times.
How to Use:
For a beginner, it takes some getting used to with your newly acquired Acupressure mats and pillow. Several hundred spikes though blunt is still sharp enough to cause some level of discomfort or pain for several minutes at the beginning which is bearable for most of the average users. This is part of warming up. Once the body warms up user starts experiencing a profound state of bliss.
For maximum results, use the mat each day for 10 to 20 minutes at a time. Remember breathing is the most important part of any exercise routine and Acupressure mats are no exception. Breathe and relax your body consciously while using it.
Choosing the surface. It is recommended that beginners start by rolling out the mat on a bed or sofa to provide extra cushion until they get used to the hardness of the spikes. Once they start feeling comfortable, they may move their mats onto the hard floor.
Using with Chair. You can also place the mat on a chair in a way your lower back gets in contact with the mat.
Start with Clothes on. Beginners are advised to start with a light shirt to avoid direct contact with the spikes. Light fabric can also be placed over the mat. The end goal is to get yourself acclimatized to the feel and then move forward once you start feeling comfortable. Most users report the best results when they have bare skin contact with the spikes. But no need to rush until you start feeling relaxed with the mat.
This is how most users have reported once they start using the Acupressure Yoga mat:
First Minute: Slightly uncomfortable and body resists the prickly spikes. Then the blood starts to move to the area.
Next Couple of minutes: Skin starts getting warm and the user gets a feeling similar to a light sunburn.
3 to 5 minutes: Skin tingles and the user feels the heat.
After 5 minutes: Full-body restoration starts.
Next 15 minutes: During this phase body gets used to the spikes and muscles start to feel relaxed. There is an easing of tension and the user usually starts feeling relaxed and blissed.
20 minutes +: Most people feel extremely relaxed to the extent that one may start feeling sleepy.
Note: The experience may differ in different users based on their body and health conditions.
